12 Dec Lancasters Prayer Letter – October 2018
Dear Pastor and Friends,
I was spending some time yesterday, thinking about the evil and division that seems to have engulfed our world. The blame seems to be pointed in many different directions. Though darkness rears its effects in so many ways, there is a singular answer to all the spiritual darkness and division we see. The Gospel is still the answer and its effectiveness is just as powerful as ever. That should give us hope and be the catalyst for our zeal.
Julie and I spent a month ministering in the state of Oregon. We always enjoy the beauty of the state and are thankful for good churches there that are reaching the lost. We were with Pastor Mike Mutchler and the people of Grand View Baptist Church and the Lord gave us a good meeting with Pastor Stuart Mason and Timberline Baptist Church. I was able to talk to several pastors, while in the area, about the need for new church plants in Oregon. We are praying that God will raise up some more churches for His glory. We were also able to spend three weeks helping a wonderful church as it is going through a pastoral change. We are reminded that, “Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it”. Pray for Willamette Valley Baptist as they seek God’s direction for their next pastor.
We just finished a three day “Focus on America Church Planting Conference” at our home church, Wilson Creek Baptist Church. It was such a blessing to see dozens of church planters and missionaries from across the country come and share their burden to plant New Testament Baptist Churches. I was honored to preach on Wednesday night to a crowd that seemed hungry for the Word of God. We had around 450 in attendance in the evening services. If you want to come to be a part of a meeting that will bless your soul, put the dates of October 15-17, 2019 on your calendar.
Many have been praying with us for the work of the ministry. In being a part of our “Mentoring Men for Missions” (MMM) program, it is a blessing to get to spend time face to face training people for the work of missions. We have had the privilege over the past few weeks to train a sweet couple who has a desire to help us in Romania. Both Dan and Lore are Romanian and have a burden to reach their people with the Gospel. We have just had a young man from India who has arrived to begin training. Sam seems to have a hunger for the Word and work of God. Pray that God will give us wisdom in how we can help equip these servants for God’s global glory.
We have some amazing things going on at the Seymour Mission Headquarters. The Lord has provided, in His timing, for us to be able to put a new roof on the building. This is such a blessing because a great deal of the interior work was being held up because of a leaks. The Lord also provided funds to be able to landscape the front of the property. We have numerous projects still left but we know that God will supply. If your church would like to give toward a project or if you have a group that would like to come and help us with labor on the building, please let us know.
Julie and I are so grateful for those who have faithfully supported us in the work of God. We thank you for your kindness and sacrifice. We are still in need of other churches to partner with us in the ministry. We desire to quickly be fully supported so that we can turn all our attention to the work at hand. If you could have us in for a meeting or missions conference, please let me know and we would love to share our burden with your church. As we ask in each letter, our prayer would be for many of you to hold our daughter, Emily, up before the Lord. We are encouraged by so many that let us know that the Lord put her on their heart. We know God still hears and answers prayers. We love each of you and thank you for your friendship.
In His service,
