Testimony
God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on
the name of the Son of God (I John 5:13).
Evangelist Monroe Parker preached from that text on an April Friday
evening at Community Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana. Later, that
same evening, my wife Joyce and I, in separate parts of our home, allowed
that Scripture to lead us to Jesus. I was 31 and Joyce was 30.
That miraculous, glorious night was the beginning of a new life and
direction for us.
In June the Lord called me to preach the Gospel. We sold out and went
out to Bible College in August 1971. I was surprised to see many married
couples preparing to serve the Lord. I, of course, was one of the oldest
students.
We are, of course, the newest oldest couple in PREACH EVANGELISTIC
MINISTRIES.
God has been so good to us over the past 38 years. He gave us six
children and now eight grandchildren.
We thank Him for allowing us to be a small part of this blessed ministry. It
is truly a privilege to serve on the Preach Team. Every team member is
precious to us and we pray for each one without ceasing.
Truly, God has moved powerfully on behalf of this team, and wrought great
victories. The devil has also moved powerfully against this team, because
of God’s Hand upon us.
Let us not forget that this is His work for His glory. In the good times, and
bad, it is always about Him.
We are here take the land for Him.
Deuteronomy 1:21 Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before
thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto
thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
This was God’s command to his people to take the land. They refused and
spent 40 years in the wilderness before God gave them another
opportunity to obey His will.
In the sanctuary of God’s Command three dynamics live.
I. GOD’S PRESENCE — Let your conversation be without
covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews
13:6).
II. GOD’S POWER — But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both
in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth (ACTS 1:8).
III. GOD’S PROVISION — But I have all, and abound: I am full, having
received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,
an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing
to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his
riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:18-19).
Charles Spurgeon wrote:
There is a heritage of grace which we ought to be bold enough to win for
our own personal possession. All that one believer has gained is free to
another. . .The world also lies before us to be conquered for the Lord
Jesus. We are not to leave any country or corner of it unsubdued.
LET US GO UP AND POSSESS THE LAND!
