Praise– Psa. 104:24: “O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” We are praising the Lord for some financial blessings that He has bestowed upon us. I believe that the Lord is bringing closure to some areas here in the States. The Lord took care of some major bills we had, the Lord has allowed us to pay off our car, a hospital bill, as well as pay off a washer and dryer. The Lord also supplied Forrest with a mountain bike. The people that gave it had no idea that his had just been run over. All of these things have taught me that God’s timing is perfect. The big picture is, that the house will sell in God’s timing.
Potential– Since the house is still on the market, and there is work to be done in Cape Verde, Bro. Paul has asked Forrest and myself to go over with him in August. We have several students this year that need training. I would love to be back in Cape Verde, but I think it would be a tremendous opportunity for my 14 year old son Forrest. We have never been able to take our children to the field. It would be a blessing for him to experience it first hand, and to open his eyes to the mission, and also for him to see where his Daddy’s heart is. If you would like to help with the finances, send designated offerings (Cape Verde Trip) to the preach office.
Pray– The list is always growing:
¨ House to sell
¨ Forrest and my finances for trip, approximately $2,600.00
¨ Finances for cargo box trailer, totes with lids, and unassembled furniture
¨ God’s grace as my sister Laura Davis continues to battle cancer
Personal-(from Kimberly) Packing…. When planning for life in a hot dry place where dust flies constantly, it takes some time to consider what is most important to pack. It looks like outdoor furniture for indoors will work best. Space will also be an issue. The boys will share a room and we would like to get them a metal frame bunk bed with a futon on the bottom. (This will help with a place to sleep or sit.) Unassembled furniture is a must. (It will already have a weight on the box for packing.) We still need to purchase a single bed for Savannah that has drawers under it (metal or wooden for durability). There are no closets in the houses there, and dust flies everywhere so unassembled wardrobes are needed. There are a few things that would be a blessing to pack into the cargo trailer that just simply can’t be found in Africa (think of the things that you might consider hard to live without). Our choices would be the following: Five gum, pancake syrup, Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, French vanilla coffee creamers, and peanut butter, just to name a few.
As we wait on the Lord concerning the sale of our home, the trip to Cape Verde for Russell and Forrest is an exciting possibility. I think it would be a tremendous boost for Russell and a life-changing trip for our son. They would both be charged up to serve and Forrest would see first hand the spiritual need of the people of Africa. Amos 8:11 “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:”
